Investigation: Decrease in parent-child conversation time in Japan may be due to the prevalence of smartphones.
As Japan's "Time Commemoration Day" approaches, Citizen Watch Co. Ltd. conducted a survey of 400 dual-working parent families with children in elementary school to investigate family time allocation. The results showed that the amount of time spent talking between parents and children has decreased compared to 13 years ago. The prevalence of smartphones may be a major reason for this. Some parents responded that when their children encounter questions they don't understand, they "ask artificial intelligence for help."
