Ministry of Water Resources: Construction projects in the current and next year can increase the capacity of unconventional water utilization by over 300 million cubic meters per year.

According to the Ministry of Water Resources, in order to promote the utilization of sewage resources and achieve green and low-carbon development, the Ministry of Water Resources will focus on water-deficient areas, water-sensitive areas, and water-ecologically fragile areas. With the period of 2025-2026, the ministry will organize and implement national unconventional water development and utilization projects. Among them, 20 construction projects will be implemented in 2025, which is expected to achieve an additional capacity of 1.2 billion cubic meters per year for the utilization of unconventional water. The Ministry of Water Resources stated that after the two-year project implementation, it is expected to increase the capacity of unconventional water utilization by over 3 billion cubic meters per year, radiating to drive the development and utilization of unconventional water in the region, and promote the realization of China's goal of unconventional water utilization exceeding 230 billion cubic meters by 2025, gradually easing the water resources supply-demand contradictions in key national regions such as Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, the Yellow River Basin, and the Yangtze River Economic Belt, improving regional water ecological conditions, and enhancing water environmental quality.
