The World Health Organization warns that the monkeypox epidemic continues to spread, and calls for the global raise of 147 million US dollars to strengthen the response efforts.

On June 5th, World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated at the Emergency Committee meeting on International Health Regulations that since the beginning of 2024, the monkeypox epidemic has continued to spread in multiple countries, with over 37,000 confirmed cases reported globally, resulting in 125 deaths. He called on the international community to remain vigilant, strengthen epidemic monitoring, vaccine coverage, and resource allocation to prevent the epidemic from further spiraling out of control. In the face of the evolving situation of the epidemic, Tedros urged governments, partners, and donors to support the WHO's "Global Monkeypox Preparedness and Response Plan" to raise the necessary $147 million in funding.
