Insiders revealed on the 4th that the Japanese government intends to introduce stricter management measures to crackdown on the behavior of foreign tourists who refuse to pay their medical bills after receiving treatment in Japan. According to a report on the 4th by Kyodo News, a survey conducted by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare on approximately 5,500 medical institutions nationwide showed that in September 2024, nearly 11,400 foreign tourists sought medical treatment in Japan, with about 0.8% of them refusing to pay their bills, resulting in a total of approximately 61.35 million yen in unpaid medical expenses.
