The Ministry of Water Resources organizes and implements national projects for the development and utilization of unconventional water sources.

The Ministry of Water Resources will thoroughly implement the requirements of the Party Central Committee and the State Council to promote the utilization of sewage resources and achieve green and low-carbon development. Focusing on regions with water scarcity, sensitive water environments, and fragile water ecosystems, a national project for the development and utilization of unconventional water will be organized and implemented within the period of 2025-2026, aiming to strengthen water security in China. By 2025, 20 construction projects will be implemented, with an expected increase in unconventional water utilization capacity of 120 million cubic meters per year.
