According to the latest data from Canalys, the Latin American smartphone market fell by 4% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2025, ending a six consecutive quarters of growth, with total shipments of 33.7 million units. Samsung led with 11.9 million units shipped, a 7% year-on-year increase, firmly holding the top spot. This was due to strong demand for entry-level models A06 and A16, which accounted for nearly half of its total shipments, indicating a strategic focus on actively defending its position in the low-end market and responding to competition from emerging price-oriented competitors. Xiaomi followed with 5.9 million units shipped, a 10% increase year-on-year, maintaining its second position for the second consecutive quarter. The continued popularity of the Redmi 14C 4G and Note 14 series strengthened its market strategy in the $100 to $299 price segment.
