According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, Meta is seeking to collaborate with Hollywood for exclusive content for its high-end virtual reality headset set to be launched next year. According to sources familiar with the matter, the tech company has been in talks with entertainment brands like Disney and A24, as well as some smaller production companies. Meta is willing to spend millions of dollars to purchase series or independent immersive video content based on well-known intellectual property. Meta hopes that this content will attract consumers to purchase its planned virtual reality device set to compete with Apple's VisionPro. This new device, internally referred to as "Loma," is more powerful and has higher video fidelity than the currently available Meta Quest virtual reality headset. Its design is more like a pair of large glasses, similar to Meta's Ray-Ban AI glasses rather than the goggles used for Quest and VisionPro, connecting to a small device that users can keep in their pockets. According to some sources, Meta plans to price this device at under $1,000, which is higher than the starting price of $300 for Quest but lower than the base price of $3,500 for VisionPro.
