African Stock Market Closing Report: South African stock index closes up more than 0.9%, hitting a new record high at closing. Naspers and Prosus both rose by more than 2.8%.
On Thursday, the South African FTSE/JSE Africa Top 40 Tradeable Index closed up 0.93% at 87990.25 points, hitting a new closing high after one trading day. Naspers, up 2.99%, led the gainers, followed by Prosus, up 2.85%. Harmony Gold rose 2.41%, followed closely by Kumba Iron Ore, up 2.29%, and Gold Fields, up 1.44%. AB InBev rose 1.27%, while Impala Platinum Holdings rose 1.25%, ranking ninth. Raitec Holdings fell 1.57%, the third largest percentage decrease, followed by Valterra Platinum Industry, down 2.13%, and Sibanye Stillwater, down 4.10%.
