Crystal jewelry becomes "internet celebrities" with the help of e-commerce to boost China's crystal exports.
According to Caixin, in the past year, "crystal therapy" has remained popular on global social networks. With the support of celebrities and fashion magazines, wearing crystals to enhance energy and heal emotions has become a trend, leading to a new round of demand for crystals. Cross-border e-commerce platforms have expanded the sales channels for crystal jewelry, boosting China's crystal exports, mainly to the US, Japan, and South Korea. The "2024 Chinese Jewelry Industry Development Report" released by the China Gemstone Jewelry Industry Association in March this year pointed out that an increasing number of e-commerce platforms are focusing on jewelry, with categories like jade and crystals maintaining high popularity. China's jewelry trade still primarily revolves around gold, silver, and platinum, with gemstones accounting for a small proportion. Gemstone imports and exports, including diamonds, colored gemstones, jade, and crystals, were significantly reduced in 2024, with imports falling by 66.83% to $415 million and exports dropping by 69.54% to $53 million.
