Dutch Prime Minister Rutte announced in The Hague on the 3rd that the coalition government he leads has officially resigned. This decision was made after the far-right Liberal Party of the Netherlands announced earlier in the day that they were withdrawing from the ruling coalition. Rutte said at a press conference that he would officially submit his resignation to King Willem-Alexander later that day. He said he would continue to serve as the caretaker Prime Minister and work to address the major challenges facing the Netherlands. He also criticized the Liberal Party's withdrawal as "irresponsible and completely unnecessary."
