On June 3rd local time, it was learned that Tom Barak, the US Special Envoy for Syria, stated in an interview with a Turkish TV station on the evening of the 2nd that the US military presence in Syria will be reduced from eight bases to one, and the US policy towards Syria will also undergo a change because "these policies have not been effective in the past century". Earlier on the same day, it was reported that in the past few weeks, about 500 US troops had been withdrawn from Syria, and several US military bases had been handed over to the Syrian Democratic Forces led by the Kurdish militia. Some US troops have been deployed elsewhere. It is reported that there are about 2,000 US troops in Syria, mainly stationed in the northeast.
