Tesla's Shanghai factory will be equipped with "giant power banks," powered by 100% green energy.
Today, it was learned from Lingang Group that the distributed photovoltaic power generation and energy storage system project of Tesla Energy Super Factory has been confirmed to be invested and constructed by Lingang Green Innovation Company, a subsidiary of Lingang Group, and is planned to be completed by the end of this year. It is understood that as the first large-scale industrial and commercial photovoltaic energy storage microgrid project in Shanghai, the project will be equipped with approximately 6 megawatts of photovoltaic system and 8 megawatt-hours of energy storage system. The energy storage units will all adopt the domestically-produced new generation of Tesla's Megapack, a super large-scale commercial electrochemical energy storage system produced by Tesla's Energy Super Factory. The photovoltaic green electricity will be directly connected to the factory for self-use, and any surplus electricity will be automatically stored in the Megapack energy storage system and discharged at the peak time for usage, effectively turning the factory into a "giant power bank" for itself.
