The 11th BRICS Telecommunications Ministers Meeting was held in Braslia, Brazil on June 2nd local time. Zhang Yunming, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, attended the meeting and delivered a speech, stating the importance of accelerating infrastructure deployment to build a foundation for sustainable development. He emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation in new areas such as 5G networks, cross-border undersea cables, and satellite internet, promoting mutual construction and sharing of new infrastructure and connectivity. It is also important to deepen cooperation in emerging fields to seek a path for sustainable development. Support was expressed for the role of the China-BRICS Artificial Intelligence Development and Cooperation Center in capacity building in artificial intelligence in BRICS countries. Additionally, there was a call to promote fair, reasonable, and efficient use of satellite frequency and orbit resources, and to drive the formation of international rules for sustainable space development that align with the common interests of developing countries. Building a digital ecosystem network to share the fruits of sustainable development was also emphasized. The meeting passed the "Joint Declaration of the 11th BRICS Telecommunications Ministers Meeting" and the "BRICS Space Resource Sustainable Development White Paper", and approved the responsibilities and rights documents for four research groups of the BRICS Future Network Research Institute in artificial intelligence and next-generation communications. During the meeting, China and Brazil jointly hosted the "Digital BRICS Forum" sub-forum on "Digital Industry Ecosystem", where representatives from member countries discussed topics such as industry chain integration, innovation application, and digital capacity building. Zhang Yunming also held talks with delegation leaders from the participating countries to exchange views on strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the field of information and communication.
