In the first five months of this year, Shanghai Customs supervised 104,000 flights of inbound and outbound aircraft, a year-on-year increase of 14.5%; the number of inbound and outbound air passengers reached nearly 17 million, a year-on-year increase of over 20%, both setting new historical highs for the same period. Shanghai Pudong International Airport Customs supported airlines in opening, increasing, and restoring international routes and destinations, especially medium and long-haul destinations and those in countries participating in the "Belt and Road" initiative, by optimizing front-end services and other measures, to continue increasing transit passenger flow. On May 30th, Shanghai's first direct passenger air route to Central Asia, "Chimkent-Shanghai," officially opened.
