Former Brazilian President Bolsonaro will stand trial on charges of a coup.
On June 2, local time, the Supreme Court of Brazil reported that Judge Moro ruled that former President Bolsonaro and seven other former government officials and military personnel will face trial starting on June 9 for allegedly plotting a coup to prevent the transfer of power after the failed 2022 election. The trial will take place at the Federal Supreme Court with testimony and evidence collection conducted in person, marking the beginning of the judicial process for the coup investigation. Bolsonaro's passport has been confiscated by the court, and if found guilty, he could face up to 28 years in prison.
