"China's global favorability is rising, while views on the United States have turned negative," reported the American Axios website on June 2, citing an exclusive survey conducted by a US morning consultancy company. According to the report, the US trade policy is "making China great again," leading to a decrease in global favorability towards the United States. The morning consultancy company tracked data on perceptions of China and the United States from adults in 41 countries including Canada, France, Japan, Russia, and the UK. As of the end of May, China's global net favorability was 8.8, while the US had a -1.5 rating. Jason McMan, political intelligence director at the morning consultancy company, summarized in the report that China's global status has surpassed the US for the first time since they started tracking this data. The surveyed countries include some of the US's most important economic and military partners, which "clearly undermines America's soft power." Axios mentioned that the US largely maintained a positive reputation last year, but this data has sharply declined since Trump took office.
