African stock market closing report: South African stock index rises by about 1.1% to hit a new closing record high, with gold mining stocks leading the way.
On Monday, the South African FTSE/JSE Africa Top 40 Index rose by 1.09%, closing at 87497.78 points, hitting a new closing record high after one trading day. Component stock Gold Fields rose by 10.83%, AngloGold Ashanti increased by 9.48%, Harmony Gold rose by 7.35% ranking third, Anglo American rose by 2.07% ranking sixth, while South Africa's Woolworth Holdings fell by 1.95% ranking third from the bottom, Pepkor Holdings fell by 2.19%, Bidvest Group fell by 2.20%.
