Former German Foreign Minister Belberg elected as President of the 80th United Nations General Assembly.

The United Nations General Assembly elected former German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock as the President of the 80th session of the General Assembly on the 2nd. Baerbock delivered a speech after her election, promising to uphold the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter and help member states seek consensus. Baerbock will assume the presidency of the 80th session of the General Assembly in September this year, succeeding the President of the 79th session, Volkan Bozkir, for a one-year term.
