Institution: Q1 Latin America smartphone shipments decreased by 4% year-on-year, ending seven consecutive quarters of growth.
Research institution Counterpoint Research released a report today stating that the shipment volume of smartphones in the Latin American market in the first quarter of 2025 decreased by 4% compared to the previous year, ending the continuous seven quarters of annual growth trend since the second quarter of 2023. The main markets are facing severe economic challenges, with overall performance showing a divided trend, with Argentina and Chile continuing to grow, while Mexico and Brazil both experienced significant declines. In terms of brand competition, Apple and Xiaomi have successfully captured market share with strategic new product launches, becoming the main winners in the first quarter. Apple attracted consumers' attention with the newly launched iPhone 16e, which ranked high on the sales chart in Mexico in the 700 to 800 USD price range, with a lower price than other 16 series models and minimal hardware and software downgrades.
