Canadian steel and automotive parts manufacturers' stocks fell due to US tariffs.
Canadian steel and automotive parts companies' stocks have been impacted by the new round of tariffs imposed by the United States on steel and aluminum. Steel manufacturer Algoma Steel and automotive parts manufacturer Magna International are among the hardest hit. Automotive parts companies like Linamar and Martinrea International have also been affected. Business jet manufacturer Bombardier has also seen a drop in its stock, as the company has compared its business to the automotive industry. Since President Trump first imposed a 25% tariff on the automotive industry in February of this year, the tariff issue has been a major unresolved issue for the industry.
