Former German Foreign Minister elected as President of the 80th UN General Assembly.

The United Nations General Assembly elected former German Foreign Minister Volker Pl Burkert as the President of the 80th session of the General Assembly on June 2nd local time. Burkert will officially take office in September this year, succeeding the 79th session of the General Assembly President and former Prime Minister of Cameroon, Philmon Yang, for a one-year term.
