Lebanese President visits Iraq, both sides look forward to strengthening bilateral cooperation.
On June 1st local time, Lebanese President Aoun arrived in the Iraqi capital Baghdad to start his official visit to the country. Aoun held separate meetings with Iraqi President Rashid and Iraqi Prime Minister Soudani on that day to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields, and exchanged views on the latest developments in the region. Rashid stated during the meeting that Iraq and Lebanon have strong bilateral relations and expressed a firm commitment to deepening and developing bilateral relations with Lebanon. Rashid pointed out that both Iraq and Lebanon should strengthen cooperation and trade in all areas. Soudani emphasized during the meeting that the Iraqi government and people firmly support Lebanon, and always stand with the Lebanese people in resolutely opposing any external actions that violate Lebanon's sovereignty or interfere with its independent will. Iraq will continue to provide assistance and support to Lebanon to help it address current challenges.
