Lebanese President visits Iraq, both sides look forward to enhancing bilateral cooperation.

On June 1st local time, Lebanese President Aoun arrived in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad to begin his official visit to the country. Aoun met with Iraqi President Rashid and Iraqi Prime Minister Sudani separately that day, to discuss the bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields between Iraq and Lebanon, and exchange views on the latest developments in the region. Rashid stated during the meeting that the bilateral relationship between Iraq and Lebanon is strong, expressing the firm desire to deepen and develop bilateral relations with Lebanon. Rashid pointed out that both Iraq and Lebanon should strengthen their cooperation and trade relations in various fields. Sudani emphasized during the meeting that the Iraqi government and people firmly support Lebanon, always standing with the Lebanese people against any external actions that violate Lebanese sovereignty or interfere with its independence. Iraq will continue to provide assistance and support to Lebanon to help it face the current challenges.
