The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) stated on May 30th that the strict control measures implemented by Israeli authorities are severely hindering humanitarian aid efforts, leading to a worsening food crisis for the people of Gaza. OCHA spokesperson Laerke emphasized that Gaza has become the most hungry place on earth, as it is the only region in the world where all residents face the risk of famine. Laerke pointed out that although Israel reopened the Kerem Shalom crossing ten days ago and approved nearly 900 aid trucks to enter the war-torn land, the number of trucks able to enter Gaza and unload their cargo is less than 600.
