Hong Kong further lowers emissions limits for power plants.

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government today published the "Technical Memorandum on the Emission Allowances Allocation for the 10th Term" in the Gazette, further reducing the emission limits for air pollutants from power plants in 2030 and beyond, in order to improve air quality in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta region. It is understood that the "10th Term Technical Memorandum" is issued in accordance with the Hong Kong Air Pollution Control Ordinance, setting the annual emission limits for sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and respirable suspended particles in the power industry for 2030 and beyond at 2302 tons, 8350 tons, and 317 tons respectively, representing a further tightening of 19%, 25%, and 14% compared to the emission limits for the power industry in 2026 as stated in the existing "9th Term Technical Memorandum."
