Shanghai has over 2.8 million technology workers, with increasing trends towards higher education, internationalization, and youthfulness.

On the occasion of the upcoming ninth National Science and Technology Workers' Day, the Shanghai Association for Science and Technology released the "Shanghai Science and Technology Workers Development Report" yesterday. The report shows that the trend of high education, internationalization, and youthfulness among Shanghai science and technology workers is becoming more prominent, presenting four characteristics of "large, excellent, high-quality, and good". "Large" refers to the increasingly expanding size of the workforce, with continuing enhancement of innovation capabilities. By 2023, the size of the Shanghai science and technology workforce will exceed 2.8 million people.
