Peter Kazimir, a member of the European Central Bank's Governing Council, has been found guilty of bribery and fined 200,000 euros, becoming the first convicted Governor of the Slovak central bank. Despite his term ending on June 1, he has stated that he will appeal the ruling, has no intention of resigning, and will continue to be involved in the ECB's decision-making process. If the higher court upholds his guilty verdict, or if the Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico's government agrees to a replacement, Kazimir may be removed from his position. However, until then, he will continue to serve in an interim capacity.
