Near a high-standard farmland in Binzhou, Shandong, a hazardous waste landfill was found. Local authorities have reported that it is not a high-standard farmland.

The joint investigation team of Boxing County, Binzhou City, Shandong Province reported that on May 27th, media reported the discovery of a hazardous waste landfill next to a high-standard farmland in Xingfu Town, Boxing County. Boxing County immediately set up a joint investigation team composed of departments including ecological environmental protection, natural resources planning, agriculture and rural areas, and urban management enforcement to rush to the scene. After verification, the site is located south of Xingyi Village, and it is a historical pit rather than a high-standard farmland. A qualified environmental testing agency has been commissioned to collect samples for identification of the remaining materials on site, and disposal plan will be formulated based on the identification results, and the disposal will be carried out in accordance with laws and regulations.
