Although the "retirement wave" of new energy vehicle power batteries has not arrived yet, the industry for comprehensive utilization of waste batteries is already crowded with many companies that have made early investments. The industry currently faces dual pressures: the discrepancy between the projected retirement volume and actual demand, and the impact of informal recycling channels, leading to a market with typical characteristics of a seller's market and a phenomenon of price inversion, putting overall profitability under pressure. Industry experts interviewed have stated that the expected "retirement wave" of power batteries in 4-5 years will help alleviate the pressure of supply-demand mismatch, but the industry still needs to strengthen guidance. Currently, the country is speeding up the revision of the Interim Measures for the Management of Recycling and Utilization of New Energy Vehicle Power Batteries, and is upgrading it to a departmental regulation. Through source control, the country aims to ensure that retired batteries enter formal channels, and clarifies the responsibilities of various administrative units and enforcement agencies in promoting standardized industry development. This aims to solve the difficult problem of "trying to control the water but not the source," and promote the industry to form a development pattern of good money driving out bad money.
