A study commissioned by Qualcomm found that the performance of its modem chips is superior to a competitor component developed by Apple, especially for cellular users in densely populated urban areas. According to a report from Cellular Insights Inc., the iPhone 16e is the first smartphone to feature Apple's independently developed C1 modem on T-Mobile's 5G network in New York City, with slower download and upload speeds than Android devices with Qualcomm chips. Qualcomm funded this study and provided the results to Bloomberg.
