Federal Reserve official Kashkari: "Uncertain" if interest rates will be adjusted by September.
Minneapolis Federal Reserve President Neel Kashkari said that the Trump administration is still negotiating tariffs with several governments, and the major changes in US trade and immigration policies have brought uncertainty to Federal Reserve officials adjusting interest rates before September. "Anything is possible," Kashkari said in an interview with the media in Tokyo on Monday. But he said, "Will the situation be clear enough by September? I am not sure now. We need to look at the data and how the negotiations progress." He added that if the United States and other countries reach a trade agreement in the coming months, the situation will be much clearer.
