According to the forecast, from May 25th to 29th, there will be a strong rainfall process in the southwest, most of the Jiangnan region, and the western and northern parts of southern China. In particular, there will be heavy to torrential rain in the southern part of Zhejiang, the northern and central part of Fujian, the southern and central part of Jiangxi, the southern and central part of Hunan, the northern part of Guangdong, the northern part of Guangxi, the eastern part of southern Guizhou, the central part of Yunnan, and other areas. As a result, the Dongting Lake system in the Yangtze River Basin, including the Xiang River, Zi River, Yuan River, and Poyang Lake system, as well as the Li River, Gui River, Bei River in the Pearl River Basin, and the Min River in Fujian will experience a significant rise in water levels. Some medium and small rivers in the heavy rain areas may experience floods exceeding the warning level. On May 25th, the Ministry of Water Resources held a consultation meeting to analyze and assess the situation of rainfall and flood control in the south. They issued a notice to relevant provincial water resources departments and basin management agencies, asking them to closely monitor the development of rainfall, water levels, and flood control situations, conduct rolling forecasts, strengthen consultations and assessments, scientifically dispatch water projects, fully leverage the benefits of flood control and disaster reduction, strengthen inspections and defense of reservoirs, especially medium and small-sized reservoirs and hydropower stations, highlight the prevention of floods and mountain torrents that may be caused by local heavy rainfall, issue timely warning information, urge and guide local governments to carry out the evacuation and sheltering of residents in dangerous areas, and make early preparations for flood prevention in areas that have been heavily affected by drought.
