Nearly 70% of Americans feel that prices will continue to rise.
Recent opinion polls show that 56% of surveyed Americans believe that the tariffs imposed by Trump on other countries have had a negative impact on their family's financial situation. Even though the Trump administration has been promoting tariffs as a way to bring industries back to the United States and increase government revenue, about 52% of respondents still say that the benefits promised by the government are not worth the economic cost they have to bear. The trade war has already affected the daily lives of Americans. Three-fifths of respondents say that prices of daily necessities have gone up compared to the previous month. 69% of respondents expect tariffs to lead to further price increases for daily necessities in the future. Even Trump cannot deny this, as he has admitted in interviews that the United States has "empty shelves" and that "children who used to be able to buy 30 toys can now only buy two," and that "these two toys may be more expensive than before."
