BMW announces the global debut of the first BMW i7 test vehicle equipped with a fully solid-state battery for road testing.
Recently, the BMW Group announced that the world's first BMW i7 test vehicle equipped with all-solid-state batteries has officially started road testing in Munich. This marks a new phase in the cooperation between BMW Group and solid-state battery technology company Solid Power, as the all-solid-state battery technology transitions from laboratory validation to real vehicle application. The BMW i7 test vehicle in this test is equipped with large-size all-solid-state battery cells provided by Solid Power and adopts an innovative module structure to better adapt to BMW's existing electric drive system. The test will focus on core issues such as cell expansion management, operating pressure control, and temperature regulation, in order to accumulate key data for future mass production. Martin Schuster, Vice President of Cell and Module at BMW Group, said: "The launch of the BMW i7 all-solid-state battery test vehicle demonstrates BMW's commitment to technological openness. We always prioritize user needs and continuously drive battery technology iteration through deep collaboration with top global partners."
