Due to recent low rainfall and less incoming water, drought conditions in some areas of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region continue to worsen. According to the "Regulations on Emergency Response to Water and Drought Disasters of the Ministry of Water Resources", the Ministry of Water Resources launched a Level IV emergency response for drought prevention in Ningxia on May 21 at 18:00, guiding the Ningxia Water Resources Department and the Yellow River Water Resources Commission of the Ministry of Water Resources to closely monitor the development of rainfall, water supply, and drought conditions, conduct rolling supply and demand water situation analysis, implement precise measures for specific areas, specific targets, specific time periods, and precise measures, scientifically and finely implement drought-resistant scheduling of river, reservoir, and water diversion, transfer, and lifting engineering projects, take targeted measures such as extending pipeline networks, constructing emergency drought-resistant water source projects, and transferring water to ensure the drinking water safety of urban and rural residents, and fully guarantee the water supply safety for large-scale breeding, large livestock, and irrigating crops in irrigation areas.
