Pepsi will invest more than $300 million to build a potato chip factory in Kazakhstan, doubling the previous plan.
The office of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan has released a statement saying that the Prime Minister of the country, Bekzhanov, met with representatives of PepsiCo to discuss the implementation of the Lays potato chips factory project in Almaty. According to the results of negotiations in June 2024, the original planned investment for the factory was $160 million. PepsiCo has announced that they have decided to double the investment amount. The first phase of the project and the first batch of Kazakhstani products are scheduled to start production in March next year, with the factory expected to be fully operational by September 2027.
