According to reports, Brussels hopes that EU member states will exclude foreign bidders in public procurement tenders and "buy European goods". Despite the impact of the trade war with US President Trump, the EU is still trying to reaffirm its position. On Wednesday, the EU's Deputy Executive Vice President responsible for Industry and Internal Market submitted a plan to coordinate rules across the entire EU and reduce barriers in the EU internal market. The plan addresses challenges such as inconsistent standards for transferring workers, e-commerce, and financial services among EU countries. One key aspect is the introduction of the "European preference" principle in the upcoming reform of EU public procurement rules. The industry official described this as a "Buy European Goods Act".
