Hunan Province initiates level four emergency response for meteorological disasters.

According to the latest meteorological data analysis, it is expected that a new round of heavy rainfall weather process will occur in Hunan Province from the evening of May 21st to the 23rd. Xiangxi Prefecture, northern Huaihua, Zhangjiajie, Changde, Yiyang, Yueyang, Changsha, Xiangtan, northern Zhuzhou, northern Yongzhou, and central-northern Hengyang will experience heavy rain, while the eastern Xiangxi Prefecture, southern Zhangjiajie, central Yiyang, and local areas in Yueyang will experience heavy rain. The maximum hourly rainfall intensity will be 80 to 100 millimeters, accompanied by strong convective weather such as thunderstorms with wind speeds of 9 to 11 on the Beaufort scale, resulting in high disaster risks. In response to this weather process, the Hunan Provincial Meteorological Bureau has initiated a level four meteorological disaster emergency response starting from 5 p.m. on May 21st.
