On May 20th local time, Panamanian Deputy Foreign Minister Hoey reaffirmed in a debate at the United Nations Security Council that the country will adhere to its commitment to maintain neutrality for all ships passing through the Panama Canal during times of peace and war. Hoey emphasized that as the sovereign manager of the Panama Canal, Panama solemnly declares that this international waterway will remain permanently neutral. Regardless of peace or war, the canal will continue to be open and safe for global ships to pass through under conditions of complete equality and without any discrimination.
