Musk claims that by the end of next year, the number of Tesla robot rental cars is expected to exceed 1 million.

During an interview on Tuesday, Musk confirmed that Tesla will launch its self-driving taxi service in Austin next month as planned. If the initial launch goes smoothly, the company will start with around 10 vehicles and quickly expand to 1,000 vehicles within a few months. Musk stated that after introducing the self-driving taxi service in Austin, Tesla plans to expand it to other cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco. He predicted that by the end of 2026, there may be over 1 million self-driving Teslas in the United States. However, as early as 2019, Musk had stated that Tesla may have over 1 million robot taxis by the end of that year, acknowledging that punctuality is not his strong suit.
