The National Oil, Gas and Biofuel Agency of Angola issued a statement on the 20th saying that a fire broke out on an offshore oil platform near the province of Cabinda in northern Angola in the early morning of that day, resulting in 17 injuries, including 4 seriously injured. The statement said that the fire occurred around 3 am local time. All the injured have been taken to the land for treatment, and the cause of the accident is under investigation. The platform had stopped production operations since May 1 and was in an annual routine maintenance phase when the fire broke out. It is reported that the offshore oil platform in the Cabinda Gulf area where the accident occurred is operated by the American subsidiary Chevron's Cabinda Gulf Oil Company. (Xinhua News Agency)
