On Monday (May 19th), New York's closing price for spot gold rose by 0.88% to $3231.90 per ounce, remaining in an upward trend throughout the day. At 08:26 Beijing time, it reached a daily high of $3249.82. COMEX gold futures rose by 1.38% to $3231.30 per ounce, also reaching a high of $3252.90 at 08:17. After the close of New York gold trading and the US stock market last Friday, Moody's downgraded the US rating - meaning that the US lost its AAA rating from all three major international rating agencies. Spot silver rose by 0.21% to $32.3629 per ounce, while COMEX silver futures rose by 0.40% to $32.485 per ounce. COMEX copper futures rose by 1.48% to $4.6615 per pound, continuing to rise after hitting a daily low of $4.5610 at 11:49.
