U.S. stock market anomaly | ZIM Shipping (ZIM.US) soars over 10% with Maersk raising freight rates.
ZIM.US surged over 10% to $20.19 on Monday, according to the Securities Times APP. In terms of news, major shipping companies have announced increases in spot freight rates. For example, Maersk announced that starting from June 9th, a peak season surcharge of $2,000 per FEU will be implemented on the China to U.S. route (currently $2,300/$3,300 for the U.S. West Coast/U.S. East Coast respectively). According to freight forwarders, some shipping companies have even offered rates of $10,000 per FEU for the U.S. East Coast route starting from June 7th.
