AMD (AMD.US) has divested the manufacturing department of ZT Systems for $3 billion in order to create a lightweight AI full-stack platform.
According to the financial news app Smaato, NVIDIA, one of the strongest competitors in the AI chip and PC chip fields, announced on Monday local time that it would sell its ZT Systems data center infrastructure manufacturing business located in the United States to Sanmina, a focus on electronic product manufacturing services, for $3 billion in cash and stock. AMD's move is aimed at allowing the chip giant to focus resources on building and accelerating the delivery of its proprietary high-performance "CPU + GPU + software architecture" AI developer full stack platform in a lighter asset, higher operational efficiency mode.
