Nissan Motor Co. is discussing the possibility of discontinuing production of the commercial vehicle "NV200 VANETTE" at its subsidiary "Nissan Shatai" Shonan factory in Hiratsuka, Kanagawa Prefecture. The option of closing the Shonan factory within Nissan has been mentioned. The NV200 VANETTE, which has seen sluggish sales growth, will not be transferred to other factories as part of Nissan's plan to reduce vehicle models in order to lower costs. Nissan is discussing the relocation of Shonan factory employees to the group company "Nissan Shatai Kyushu" in Kurate Town, Fukuoka Prefecture. There are proposals to involve employees in the production of popular large SUVs like the "PATROL" in the Middle East, as well as the new large minivan "ELGRAND" planned for release in fiscal year 2026.
