Recently, the Guangzhou Intellectual Property Court made a final judgment on the dispute between the China Music Copyright Association and Guangzhou Huya Information Technology Co., Ltd. over the infringement of the online dissemination rights of music works. The first-instance judgment found that the facts were clear and the law was correctly applied, rejecting Huya's appeal and maintaining the original judgment. In this case, the first-instance court found that Huya had used eight music works managed by the Music Copyright Association on its online live streaming platform without permission, thereby infringing on the information network dissemination rights of the association in relation to the songs in question. Huya was ordered to compensate the Music Copyright Association with 22,000 RMB for the infringement.
