The leader of Brazil's largest criminal organization was captured in Bolivia.
On May 17th local time, the Brazilian Federal Police reported that the leader of the country's largest criminal organization, "Capital First Command," was arrested by the local anti-crime special forces in Bolivia on the 16th for using forged documents. The arrested individual, Marcos Roberto de Almeida, is known to control the majority of drug trafficking and organized crime networks in South America. He had recently been sentenced to more than 12 years in prison for forming a criminal gang and money laundering, and was on the Interpol red notice list. Currently, the suspect is in custody in Bolivia and is waiting for the legal process of extradition back to Brazil to be carried out.
