According to the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission: As of the week ending May 13, American speculators increased their net short positions on the S&P 500 index CME by 31,350 contracts to 287,281 contracts, while stock fund managers increased their net long positions on the S&P 500 index CME by 44,461 contracts to 857,623 contracts.
