Foreign companies have filed a 337 investigation request regarding specific ink cartridges and their components.

On May 13, 2025, EPSON PORTLAND INC., EPSON AMERICA, INC., and SEIKO EPSON CORPORATION filed two complaints with the United States International Trade Commission under Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930. These complaints accuse specific ink cartridges and their components exported to the US, imported into the US, or sold in the US of infringing on their patents. They requested an investigation under Section 337 and the issuance of a general exclusion order or limited exclusion order and cease and desist order. The complaints involve 20 companies in China and the US.
