UBS Group recently stated that the increased volatility in the financial markets has enhanced the attractiveness of gold. Global funds are looking to move money out of the United States or hedge their risks in the U.S. "The volatility of U.S. risk assets and the U.S. dollar will cause more international investors to consider hedging more U.S. exposure and diversifying their asset allocations globally," said Mark Haefele, Chief Investment Officer of UBS Wealth Management division this week. "Gold remains an important diversification tool." Haefele stated that investors need to diversify their investments and hedge in order to enhance the certainty of asset values, especially when there is non-dollar debt maturing. "These trends do not require a major change in U.S. exceptionalism to become evident."
